My Retired Mother Ditched Her Designer Brands for These 7 Affordable Yet Stunning Fall Fashion Outfits from Costco

My 70-year-old retired mom’s closet has been home to designer labels for years. Saint Laurent coats, Dior dresses—you name it, she had it. She’s always had a keen eye for fashion and home aesthetics, like when she picked up some fantastic home decor items from Costco that had the neighbors talking.

But yesterday, something weird happened. Mom went on a routine Costco run with her friends and returned with bags full of fall fashion finds. Now, she’s declaring she’ll never wear her designer clothes again.

I was initially skeptical, but after seeing her model these Costco items, I’m starting to understand why. Here’s a look at her seven fall special outfit picks and why she’s loving them.

And don’t worry; I have provided the links to the items. You can buy them from the online Costco store, too. However, the prices may change regularly on the online store.

32 Degrees Cozy Shirt

My mom first bought the 32 Degrees Ladies’ Cozy Shirt, which was priced at just $16.99. She couldn’t believe how soft and plush the fabric felt.

“Feel this,” she insisted, holding out the sleeve.

“It’s called 32 Degrees Heat, but forget about the name. It is made for fall!”

She slipped it on, and I could see why she was so excited. The relaxed, oversized fit looked both cozy and stylish. “I love these button-flap pockets,” Mom pointed out.

She twirled around, showing off how the shirt moved. She picked the brown color, and the button-down style makes it easy to pair with jeans or leggings.

HFX Shirt Jacket

This HFX shirt jacket got Mom excited. She chose the brown one, saying it reminded her of a much pricier jacket she’d been eyeing. “But this is better than that designer one,” she told me.

I had to admit that the approximately 300 GSM weight made it feel substantial. Mom highlighted the snap closure, grinning:

“These are perfect for my arthritic hands. No struggling with tiny buttons!”

The shirt has many pockets, so Mom indicated that she could fit her iPhone and home keys into the snap pockets on the chest.

Our neighbor, Mrs. Johnson, spotted Mom wearing it while gardening. “Agnes, you look fabulous! Is that a new designer piece?” Mrs. Johnson couldn’t believe it when Mom said it was from Costco. Now, there’s a waiting list at our local Costco for this jacket!

Ella Moss Linen Blend Pant

Mom chose this Ella Moss Linen Blend pant in green, or as she calls it, “olive sophistication.” The moment she put them on, she started twirling. “They’re so light and breezy!” she exclaimed. “These will do great for my yoga class, but they are also stylish enough for lunch with my girls.”

She was particularly thrilled about the linen blend. “55% linen, 45% viscose. It’s breathable but won’t wrinkle as much as pure linen. Genius!” The wide-leg, ankle-length style looked terrific on her.

Mom’s favorite feature is the pull-on style with a flat front waistband. “No zippers dig into my stomach when I sit down. And these front pleats? They add just the right amount of drape.”

Kirkland Signature Shearling Slipper

She got these Kirkland Signature Shearling slippers in tan, or as Costco calls it, “chestnut.” The moment she slipped them on, I could see the comfort on her face.

“Twin-face sheepskin,” she explained, showing me the soft interior. She was also impressed by the lightweight outsole.

Mom’s only complaint? “They’re so comfortable, I might just wear them forever. Your dad might have to spray me down to get me to change into something formal!”

Lands’ End 3-in-1 Systems Jacket

This 3-in-1 Systems jacket was the pièce de résistance of Mom’s Costco haul. “It’s like buying three jackets in one!” she said, demonstrating how she can wear the vest alone on mild days or the full jacket when it gets colder.

Mom was impressed by the water-resistant shell and the adjustable hood with a visor. She also liked the double pockets on both the jacket and vest.

Our next-door neighbor, Vince, was outside when Mom showed me how the jacket worked. His jaw dropped when she mentioned it was from Costco. “Sarah has been looking for a similar jacket for a long time,” he said. Last I heard, he went to Costco to snag one for his wife before they sold out.

Modern Ambition Woven Stretch Pant

Mom picked up these Woven Stretch pants in black. She was thrilled about the GRS-certified recycled nylon fabric.

The high-waisted, elasticated waistband with a drawcord was a big hit.

“I can perfectly tailor the pants to my waist, and they’re so comfy I could easily sleep in them.”

She demonstrated the side zip pockets, fitting her entire hand inside. “I won’t have to bring a purse to the Costco store anymore!”

Lolë Fleece Belt Bag

The final piece of Mom’s Costco fashion revolution was this copper fleece belt bag, which she insists on calling “cinnamon spice.”

“Can you feel how soft this fleece is,” she said, holding it out to me. “But look, the inside is water-resistant nylon. My things stay dry even if it rains!”

She also liked the YKK zipper-secured back pocket. “No pickpockets are getting in here!”

Mom spent five minutes showing me all the compartments inside, including three mesh pockets and a key clip. She’s even figured out how to wear it as a crossbody bag. “It’s like a stylish, hands-free purse. Your designer-loving mother has officially entered the 21st century!”

I never thought I’d see the day Mom would choose Costco over Dior, but these finds have wholly won her over. If you’ll excuse me, I must go to Costco before Mom buys out their entire fall clothing section! Lol.
